The members of BTS are making a big move. The South Korean boy band is ending its distribution deal with Columbia Records, Billboard confirmed Thursday (October 21).
Instead, the group is going to be heading to Universal Music Group, according to the publication’s sources. The new partnership is a licensing and distribution deal through Geffen/INgrooves/UMG.
The move is described as the result of a “years-long effort by UMG CEO Lucian Grainge and Interscope Geffen A&M CEO John Jannick to woo the HYBE executives.” A reason for BTS leaving Columbia is chairman and CEO Ron Perry‘s reported lack of relationship with the band.
