Brawl with 'men armed with machetes' could be linked to north Manchester shooting

Stop and search powers have been beefed up in north Manchester again tonight following a fight 'with machetes' which could be linked to Sunday's shooting in Collyhurst.

Greater Manchester Police says a group of six males were fighting on Tavistock Square, in Harpurhey, this afternoon (March 15).

It is believed a number of them were armed with machetes. GMP believes the brawl is linked to the large disturbance outside a pub on Glendower Drive on Sunday, where a firearm was discharged and a man received serious injuries from a large knife.

As a result of Sunday night’s incident, a Section 60 order was implemented until 9pm last night. Now, another Section 60 order has been imposed in north Manchester, for the areas covered in the map below.
