Brave disabled girl, 13, 'has lost her smile' after year of lockdown shielding pain


A disabled teenager has "lost her smile" after a year of lockdown shielding that has left her "sad and in pain". Emma Lewis fears that Covid could kill her daughter after a simple cold caused her brain damage.

Annie caught a cold three years ago, which led to sepsis, she went into cardiac arrest and suffered brain damage after she was starved of oxygen for more than six minutes.

She can no longer walk, talk or communicate but she could smile. The 13-year-old has Dravet syndrome - a rare, drug-resistant epilepsy - along with her two sisters, Alanna and Ellanee.
