Boy, 11, drowned on family holiday as lifeguard 'tried to find his goggles'

An 11-year-old boy drowned at a campsite beach as the on-duty lifeguard searched for his goggles, an inquest heard. Jake Taylor, from Gipsyville, was on holidaying with his parents and four brothers in northern France when he drowned in a busy lagoon at the La Croix Du Vieux Pont campsite on August 22, 2019.

He was rushed to a Paris hospital, but could not be saved and died later that day. An inquest was held into the incident on Friday in Hull, with senior coroner Professor Paul Marks concluding it the schoolboy's tragic death as an "accident", Hull Live reports.
