Bill O’Herlihy’s daughter has mixed emotions seeing her late father on Reeling in the Years

We love Reeling in the Years for taking us on a trip down memory lane every week. While we may be laughing one moment, we could be sobbing our way through the show the next, a long forgotten memory taking us right back.

And while it was far from a ‘forgotten’ memory, viewers especially connected with this week’s throwback – a clip of RTÉ sports presenter Bill O’Herlily announcing his retirement back in 2014.

For his daughter, Jill O’Herlihy, tuning in at home, the moment her late father popped up unexpectedly on the telly was a bittersweet one.

The much loved broadcaster and PR executive passed away in 2015 at the age of 76, just a year after announcing his retirement after a hugely successful career which spanned 49 years.
