The biggest winged predator in the UK landed in a reserve 475 miles from home . . . and was frightened off by a pair of tough Renfrewshire buzzards.It’s only the second time a White Tailed sea eagle has ever been spotted at the Lochwinnoch RSPB haven.The big bird in question had an overnight bed & breakfast, roosting at the south end of the Barr Loch.Don't miss the latest headlines from around Renfrewshire.

Sign up to our newsletters here.It was last seen heading for the hills at Muirshiel after being targeted by a pair of threatened buzzards spooked by the giant visitor.Ornithologists believe it had been tempted to stop over for some fish at the Renfrewshire reserve.But it was seen off in the morning by the buzzards less than half its size.A satellite tracker has identified the bird was one released into the wild in recent years on the Isle of Wight.With a wing span of more than eight feet, the sea eagle is the UK’s largest bird of prey with vivid yellow legs and talons and piercing golden eyes.The only previous time a sea eagle has been spotted at Lochwinnoch was 11 years ago.Robert Conn, the Visitor Experience Manager, revealed the sighting was made on Monday morning by Zul Bhatia, the former Lochwinnoch manager and area board member.Robert said: “This bird is one from the Isle of Wight reintroduction by the Roy Dennis Foundation.“It has apparently been summering in the Highlands and may now be working its way south.“It roosted overnight at the south end of the Barr Loch and was seen by Zul flying over the loch and being harassed by buzzards.“The Barr Loch being part of a network of lochs, forming the largest wetland site in South west Scotland would be a big draw to a white tailed eagle travelling inland looking for
