Biden Extends Student Loan Forgiveness Pause Through June 2023

Two lawsuits—one filed by the attorneys general of six Republican-led states, and a second filed on behalf of two plaintiffs claiming the plan’s qualifications “harmed” them—  the Department of Education.

Subsequently, the Department of Education has  the federal student debt relief application from its website and paused on processing any applications they’ve received so far while the legality of the president’s plan is decided in the court.This extension will be the Biden administration’s sixth since taking office (trust us, we’ve been keeping count), and the ninth extension total since the original federal student loan moratorium was enacted through the CARES Act back in 2020.
