Beating Dunfermline can put us right back in League One title race, says Airdrie ace

Adam Frizzell says Airdrie will put themselves right back in the League One title race if they can beat Dunfermline on Saturday.The Diamonds are looking to inflict a rare defeat on the league leaders, and eat up a bit of the 10-point gap between the sides, with a visit to East End Park scheduled the following weekend.Ex-Killie winger Frizzell knows it’s going to be difficult, but says Airdrie go into the game with confidence, having stretched their unbeaten run to four games after Saturday’s 1-0 win over Clyde.“If we go and get positive results in the back-to-back with Dunfermline we’re right back in the race, where I feel, and all the boys feel, we should be,” he said.“We’re looking to go and win those games and go from there.“We won on Saturday despite not being at our best and that’s probably what we had last season, that winning mentality, and we’re building up a wee head of steam just now.“We’re under no illusions – they’ve lost once in the league, Dunfermline, so they’re obviously a good outfit.“Getting them here, we’ll impose our style on the game and see what happens.“It puts a marker down if we can get three points on Saturday, and if we can get a positive result in the next two we’re bang right back in it, so that’s what we’ll look to do.”Frizzell, 24, was outstanding in the 1-0 win over Clyde on Saturday that moved Airdrie up to third in the table, courtesy of Charlie Telfer’s winner.It was a tough game but, having played under Jim Duffy at Dumbarton, Frizzell knew what to expect.He said: “We’re pleased.
