Batgirl film crews offer Glasgow residents and businesses earplugs and blackout blinds

Crews on comic book blockbuster Batgirl are offering residents of Glasgow streets earplugs and blackout blinds ahead of filming a series of noisy action sequences.

The flick is being filmed in the Merchant City, standing in for the fictional metropolis of Gotham City. Hints have been scattered online to suggest vehicle chases could be filmed in the city.

Filmmakers from production company American Night have distributed letters to local residents and businesses to advise of late night filming up until 1.30am next week in and around Glasgow Cross.As part of this, the producers have warned of noisy filming and the use of bright lights - and have offered earplugs and blackout window covers to reduce disruption.The letter, seen on social media, said: "We mentioned in our previous letter that considering the anti-social hours of some of our work, we can provide black-out material for windows and/or foam earplugs to anybody who feels they may need them. "We have been given permission by Glasgow City Council to install temporary road closures during our filming and related work, to ensure the safety of both the wider public and our film crew while we operate near these roads. "As mentioned previously, there may also be a requirement for some pedestrian management within the area."For those homes and businesses in the immediate vicinity this may mean that we have to ask people to wait for a short period of time before being escorted to/from their destination."We appreciate that this may be an inconvenience and will endeavour to keep waiting times as short as possible."Batgirl, starring Leslie Grace, J.K.
