Labour leaders today appealed to Conservative MPs to ‘right a wrong’ by voting against the scaled-back rail plan which has been largely panned across the region.

The Government’s Integrated Rail Plan was published last month to widespread fury after Whitehall axed the eastern leg of HS2 and replaced large parts of a promised new line from Manchester to Leeds via Bradford with ‘upgrades’ of the existing route instead.
