Ayrshire rock festival set to boost town with pub and local food outlet providing refreshments

An Ayrshire rock festival is set to hand the economy a major boost to the tune of £1.5 million. Winter Storm will bring the thunder and noise to the coast when it hits Troon this month.

The popular bash will treat punters to a mix of classic rock, blues and metal artists for the sixth year running.Spread across two stages, including the Troon Concert Hall the festival will rock up to the town on the weekend of Friday, November 25 to Sunday, November 27.Event organisers are gearing up for a sell-out year with 2,500 briefs already sold, with 35 acts set to the stage, including an indie/ punk selection of Big Country, From the Jam and The Skids.And Troon based festival chief, Ian McCaig has told how the local economy is set to reap the benefits, with an estimated quarter of a million set to be raked in.It means after the final note is sounded over the huge sounds system that the event will have brought in at least £1.5 million to the local economy.Popular boozer the Harbour Bar will provide the bars at the festival along with foodie favourite Scran providing some of their top class dishes, as official caterer.Ian told Ayrshire Live: “Winter Storm has become one of Scotland’s premier bijou rock festivals.“This year we’ve sold almost 2,500 tickets over the weekend, and it has now grown to include a third night aimed more at the local audience to add to the main two-day rock festival.“Rock fans from all over the UK and beyond come to Ayrshire to enjoy this festival“There is an estimated 6,500 bed nights generated in and around Troon from fans, bands and contractors.“WinterStorm also always uses local suppliers.
