Ayrshire RNLI Lifeboat crews help rescue 10 people from stricken vessel off Isle of Bute

Members of the Troon and Largs RNLI Lifeboat crews were summoned to help rescue 10 people on board a stricken vessel. The drama unfolded on Sunday afternoon when a Mayday call, followed by a 999 call, prompted the emergency response.The vessel, with 10 people on board, lay south-west of the Isle of Bute and reports suggested that it was taking on water.Members of the crew, which consisted of eight adults and two children, were also understood to be suffering from the effects of sea sickness due to the weather conditions.

Belfast Coastguard paged the volunteer RNLI crews at Troon, Largs and Tighnabruaich as well as the Kames coastguard rescue team.

All casualties aboard were transferred, along with one Largs crew member, to the Troon all-weather lifeboat, before the party was taken to Portavadie marina, where the Kames
