Ayrshire has recorded its worst week for coronavirus deaths since April.National Records of Scotland data released today shows that 43 death certificates registered in the region last week mentioned coronavirus.The death toll between January 11 and January 17 was only higher between April 13 to 19 when 51 deaths were linked to COVID-19.Across the region last week 13 deaths were in East Ayrshire, 19 were in North Ayrshire and South Ayrshire reported 11.Throughout the pandemic so far East Ayrshire has recorded 189 deaths, North Ayrshire has 246 and South Ayrshire has 222.

The news comes as NHS Ayrshire & Arran reported three consecutive days of record hospital patient numbers.Across Scotland last week 368 deaths were registered which.
