A 77-year-old great-gran has spent seven weeks in a hospital bed despite being well enough to return to her Ayrshire care home.

Elderly hospital patients in South Ayrshire have been denied a return to their care homes which are dealing with outbreaks of Covid-19.A desperate family has called the treatment of their loved one as “mental abuse” as they say they have “given up” getting out of their hospital bed.

Ayrshire Live can reveal that one family has told how their elderly relative has been ferried between two Ayrshire hospitals and spent a total of seven weeks in NHS care.
