Wing king Logan Chalmers insists he’s having the time of his life in Ayr United's attacking side. The on-loan Dundee United star was a second-half standout after climbing off the bench against former club Inverness on Saturday. And he played a key role as United almost claimed a huge three points against his old teammates.Chalmers said: “I’m at Ayr to have an impact on games.“We knew we weren’t up to our standards in the first half on Saturday."But when you go 2-1 up with five or six minutes to go, you’re disappointed not to go on and win it.“The gaffer has said we could look back on this as a vital point or two that we’ve thrown away.“It’s a hard place to come – I was here last season and know that more than anyone.”Chalmers has come to Ayr in search of regular games after failing to make the breakthrough at Tannadice in the summer. He added: “The main thing for me is I love football.

If I can’t play at my parent club, I’m more than happy to get out and enjoy game time elsewhere."A big part of my decision to come here wasn’t just where Ayr were in the league but it was the players they have here.“I watched a couple of the Friday night games and it felt like a place I could come and have a real impact with the way we play.“The most important thing for a winger is numbers - be that goals or assists - and I’m doing well in that regard.“Whoever our front four are, we’re always a threat and we have a lot of attacking players ready to come on and have a say.”Don't miss the latest Ayrshire headlines –sign up to our free daily newsletter here
