Austin Butler To Star in 'City On Fire'; His First Project Following 'Elvis' Oscar Run

Austin Butler has booked his next project, following his huge role as Elvis. Deadline reports that the -year-old actor is set to star in City on Fire, from Sony 3000 Pictures. Keep reading to find out more… The outlet says that Austin will not only star, but produce the project, with David Heyman and Shane Salerno.

The novel from Don Winslow, is the first in a trilogy of books, and focuses on two criminal empires — one Irish, the other Italian — that control all of New England. Austin is set to portray Danny Ryan, who is forced to grow from a street soldier into a ruthless leader to protect his friends, his family and the home he loves.

Fighting the Mafia, the local cops and the feds, Danny intends to build a dynasty or die trying. The “City on Fire” novel was just released last year, with the second, “City of Dreams” coming out in just a few weeks. “Like so many people around the world, I was amazed by Austin Butler’s Oscar-nominated performance in Elvis,” Don said of Austin joining the project. “I’ve had a number of conversations with Austin about this trilogy that I’ve been working on for almost 30 years of my life, and I have been deeply impressed by his commitment to playing Danny Ryan as well as his passion to also produce the three films with David and Shane and Elizabeth [Gabler] and Marisa [Paiva].” Following his Oscar run, Austin had some downtime which he spent with girlfriend Kaia Gerber.
