At least seven arrested after 'disgraceful' Bristol Kill the Bill protest

Sign up for the latest from M.E.N. political editor Jennifer Williams At least seven people have been arrested after violent scenes erupted at a 'Kill the Bill' protest in Bristol.

Twenty police officers were injured, including two who were taken to hospital after suffering broken ribs and a broken arm, when crowds descended on a police station, clashing with officers and setting police vehicles alight.

Avon and Somerset Police said what started as a peaceful demonstration had been "hijacked by extremists". Police said six people had been detained for violent disorder and a seventh was being held for possession of an offensive weapon.
