Ashton Kutcher has opened up about his secret health battle which left him feeling "lucky to be alive". The Two and a Half Men star, 44, gave an insight into the horrific symptoms he suffered in the past due to his autoimmune disorder, which left him unable to see, hear or walk.
In a preview for an upcoming episode of Running Wild with Bear Grylls: The Challenge, dad-of-two Ashton revealed that he had a "super rare form" of vasculitis around two years ago. "Like two years ago, I had this weird, super rare form of vasculitis, that like knocked out my vision, it knocked out my hearing, it knocked out like all my equilibrium," the actor said in the clip, which was shared by Access Hollywood.
Vasculitis involves the inflammation of the blood vessels, with the immune system attacking healthy blood vessels and causing them to become swollen and narrow, as stated on the NHS website.
If blood flow is restricted, then organ and tissue damage can potentially occur. There are various different types of vasculitis with the majority being rare.
