Around 100,000 Glasgow homes without water after burst main causes huge flood

Thousands of households in Glasgow have been left without water after a main burst in Milngavie caused flooding. Scottish Water say it is impacting the water supply to around 100,000 properties in parts of the city.Areas impacted include the city centre, Tradeston, Ibrox, and much of the west end, including Kelvinside, Knightswood, Yoker, Scotstoun and Partick.

Scottish Water started investigating after customers reported an interruption to their water supply around 4pm on Tuesday, January 24.The authority later located the burst main on Auchenhowie Road in Milngavie, which causing flooding in the area, majorly affecting Glasgow Road in nearby Bearsden.

Local nursery Lullaby Lane had to be evacauted, with kids and staff taken in by neighbours Rangers FC at their Auchenhowie training complex.

They confirmed on Twitter that everyone was "safe, happy, & warm".Emergency services including Scottish Fire and Rescue and police teams are at the scene with several roads closed down.
