Apple AirPods users sent stark message by NHS doctor

People who regularly use Apple AirPods or other wireless Bluetooth earbuds need to be careful, according to a doctor.Dr Karan Rajan, an NHS surgeon and lecturer at Sunderland University, has more than 5.3million followers on TikTok.

He regularly shares health advice and debunks myths that appear on social media. He recently took to TikTok to address wild claims about AirPods and cancer, while reacting to another user's video about "breaking up with long period use of my AirPods".

This other TikToker's video showed AirPods next to a signal-reading device, which was beeping. They wrote in the clip: "Listen to how it gets stronger as I walk away and the signal from the AirPods tries to reach my phone."Dr Karan clarified that all wireless Bluetooth gadgets emit "low level radio frequency radiation", also known as EMFs, which are classified as category 2B carcinogens.

However, he reassured viewers that this classification does not mean AirPods cause cancer. He explained: "In group 2A and especially in group 2B, there are items that have no proof of cancer causation.
