national bard is one of the people with the most statues dedicated to them worldwide, it's doubtful that anyone would expect one to turn up in a compost heap.But that's exactly where a family in South Africa discovered the one that turned up on this Sunday's episode of Antiques Roadshow.Filmed at Culzean Castle, which is just down the road from the village of Alloway where the legendary poet Robert Burns was born, the episode saw a white, cast iron statue of the bard, one of "the heaviest items we've ever valued" on the show, examined by the experts.When expert Dendy Easton noted that the statue must have "weighed a ton" to bring it to Scotland, the guest and owner admitted that it was actually "a third of a tonne".Dendy then confirmed that.
