The Lord of the Rings: The is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on September 2 but eager fans will get a chance to watch the first two episodes on the big screen days before.

Amazon teamed up with Cinemark to screen the debut episodes on August 31 for one night only.The theatrical push is a nod to The Lord of the Rings film series by Peter Jackson that made movie night an event for tentpole movies.A prequel to The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, The Rings of Power is set in the Second Age of Middle-earth — thousands of years before the events of the Lord of the Rings films and the novels.

The series brings to screens for the very first time J.R.R. Tolkien’s fabled Second Age of Middle-earth’s history.
