Steven Gerrard

Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,

Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.

Ally McCoist voices Rangers reservation over Michael Beale and rules out another Ibrox frontrunner

Uncertain Ally McCoist believes there is no standout candidate to become the next manager of Rangers and fears Michael Beale may lack the experience needed.

The QPR boss spent four years in Glasgow as Steven Gerrard 's trusted lieutenant and Record Sport revealed he is keen to replace Gio Van Bronckhorst.

And the Loftus Road side will not stand in his way if Ibrox chiefs come calling. But McCoist believes the chance for an emotional return to Glasgow may be too soon for the 42-year-old who only took his first steps into management in the summer.

Beale is the bookies' favourite to follow the Dutchman and the Rangers icon has no doubts over his ability to teach. However, McCoist reckons a more experienced figure could be the way to go.
