Actor Alan Cumming to share personal life insights at Perth Theatre event in May

One of Perth’s most famous faces is set to return to the city for one night only as part of a special fundraising event.Global acting sensation Alan Cumming will be joined for the ‘In Conversation with...’ event by author Louise Welsh for a conversation about various topics, from his role in the hit US version of The Traitors, to his theatre career and his personal life.The pair will also share insights from his latest novel ‘Baggage: Tales from a Fully Packed Life’ - all over a traditional Scottish lunch sponsored by Simon Howie.It will all take place in Perth Theatre’s Joan Knight Studio on May 12 - with the event being held to help support the theatre’s ongoing community activities with young talent.Aberfeldy-born Alan holds various roles, including patron of Scottish Youth Theatre and also as an ambassador for the Hetrick-Martin Institute (HMI), an organisation committed to education and empowerment for LGBTQ youth.Meanwhile, Louise - a creative writing professor at Glasgow University and a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, is the author of nine books The Cutting Room, The Plague Times Trilogy and The Second Cut.The pair worked together when Alan voiced the audio version of The Second Cut and Louise will be discussing her return to the protagonist Rilke, 20 years on from cult novel The Cutting Room.Louise said: “I am very excited about meeting Alan whose work I have been a fan of even before The High Life.“Alan is an actor of incredible range who is able to give life to multiple genres – a Hollywood actor who still knows how to plant his feet and accents on Scottish soil.“A man of the theatre, the big screen and TV.
