Manchester City Council aims to bring the brownfield site on Silk Street, in Newton Heath, back into use with the social housing development.

Generous-sized gardens, solar panels, living green roofs and electric vehicle charging points will all feature on the new estate of 69 homes - not far from Wing Yip Chinese superstore.

The properties will include 36 one-bedroom apartments, 16 of which will be available to over 55s. It also includes plans for 12 two-bedroom apartments, 17 three-bedroom houses and four four-bedroom houses.
