A crime drama set in Victorian London but entirely filmed in a Scots town has just gone on Amazon Prime

The first episode of the Paisley-made Victorian crime drama A True Mismatch can now be watched on Amazon Prime Video.It’s a landmark moment for the Renfrewshire team behind the project, which was kicked off by £5,000 raised through a crowdfunder a year ago.The 25-minute debut of a planned mini-series can currently be viewed in the UK and in America.Don't miss the latest headlines from around Renfrewshire.

Sign up to our newsletters here.And it’s hoped good ratings will help lure in TV moguls to take the tale of class divide, murder and mayhem to the big time.Daniel Reynolds, 30, is the lead actor and co-writer, and he said: “We have received so much positive feedback, with is great.”We are hoping people really enjoy it and see what sort of work we can produce.“We know we have a fan base in the US, which is amazing, and are just waiting on hopefully getting permission for the Amazon Prime networks in Ireland and Australia.”Daniel, from Johnstone, stars as pickpocket gang leader Harry Shaw, opposite Nina Gray, who plays posh Alice Godfrey.Most of the filming was done in historic Paisley, including Oakshaw and inside the Sma’ Shot Cottages, which also provided costumes from the era.Daniel added: “The next thing for us is a new crowdfunder to finance the full season one of six episodes.“Our fingers are crossed for the future.”The Express revealed the world premiere was shown to VIPs before Christmas at Bar Pre in the town’s Shuttle Street, close to Sma’ Shot.The first episode called “Only Fear” sets the scene and ends in a cliff-hanger, with Paisley doubling as Victorian London.People who have already watched it on Amazon Prime have been full of praise.Stacey Waugh said: “What an explosive first episode!
