Details of how a £450m plan to transform a Manchester neighbourhood and create almost 2,000 jobs have been revealed. Land in Upper Brook Street, Ardwick, has been earmarked for the proposed development which would feature new life sciences space and student accommodation.

The plans could create 1,900 jobs and apprenticeships while the team behind the development, McLaren Property, Property Alliance Group (Alliance), Moda Living and Kadans Science Partner, have said the scheme could provide a £138m economic benefit. READ MORE: Click here to sign up to the BusinessLive North West newsletter The scheme has been designed by architects Hawkins Brown, Sheppard Robson and SimpsonHaugh and would also include green space and pocket parks as well as improved pedestrian and cycling routes.

There could also be a GP surgery, a new community centre, retail and cafes. If approved, McLaren Property working alongside Kadans would deliver 740 student bedspaces and 218,556 sq ft of technical real estate respectively.

The new sci-tech floor space would be developed by Kadans’ in-house team while the student accommodation would be developed by McLaren Property.
